Frequently asked questions
As a photographer of so many different genre’s, it’s sometimes very difficult for me to put all of the information into one webpage without sending you off to the land of nod. SO, I’ve created a blog for you to help with those frequently asked questions.
I have segregated it into sections that are relevant to each type of shoot I offer.
I hope this all helps, but please do message me if you can’t find the answer to your question here.
Maternity
When is the best time to book?
You can contact me or book through my website as soon as you’ve had your first scan. Your maternity session will take place during your 7th and 8th month of pregnancy.
Do I need to bring anything?
Unless there is something specific that you want to wear, then just yourself and your partner will do nicely.
If you’re not using my makeup artist, then please wear your hair and makeup how you would like it for your photos.
Can I book a hair and makeup artist?
Yes. If you have booked either the Longhorn or Highland package, your hair and makeup will be included.
Please book as soon as possible to ensure my makeup artist is available.
Can I wear my own clothes?
You will be more than welcome to wear your own clothes if gowns aren’t really your thing.
Do you have any props/crowns that I can use?
I have flower crowns and princess crowns available as well as various backdrops and props.
How long will the images take to come back?
I aim to have your images ready and on an online gallery for you within 4 weeks. This can sometimes change due to the time of year (Christmas is particularly busy), so if you are wanting your images back for a specific date, then please do let me know before you book.
Is there an option for me to buy extra digitals or prints?
Always. Once you have received your online gallery, you will be able to upgrade your package and add extra digitals or prints.
Can I upgrade and add a frame?
Absolutely, I love it when my images are hung on your walls! When you buy a framed product, I will include a few extra digitals to say thank you.
Newborn
When is the best time to book?
It is always best to contact me before your baby is born and add yourself onto my expectant mothers list.
This will ensure that I have enough space to book you in once your little one has arrived.
Newborns are best photographed before they reach 2 weeks of age.
Can a baby be older than 2 weeks for their session?
They can, it just means that they might not be as sleepy or be happy about being posed and wrapped. I can still get gorgeous images though and I do love an awake image :)
If your baby is between 3 weeks and 3 months old already and you still want to book, please take a look at my newborn mini sessions as these might suit you better.
What happens if my baby doesn’t settle?
Babies can be very temperamental as they settle into their new world. This does mean that they sometimes don’t settle for their photo sessions. This can be for so many reasons; growth spurts, cluster feeding, wind etc.
I always try to work around this, but very occasionally, it is just better to reschedule for another day.
It can be very disappointing for the parents, but I would much prefer to work with a happy settled baby, rather than to force the issue and make things worse.
You won’t lose your deposit or have to pay anything extra on top of your package if this does happen.
Am I able to bring any outfits?
You are welcome to bring a few bits and pieces in for the photos. However, please bear in mind that regular baby suits tend to be loosely fitted, so they won’t show off all of those cute baby rolls that they have.
Can the whole family come along?
Absolutely, I encourage it! This is the best time to get you all together for a perfect family photo.
Do you offer payment plans if we decide to buy extra images or Wallart?
Once you have received your online gallery URL, you will be able to buy any extra prints/wallart/digitals through your online shop within that gallery.

Can family members buy prints or put towards the photos?
I offer vouchers that can be purchased and used towards the purchase of your package, digitals, prints or wallart.
Do you offer payment plans if we decide to buy extra images or Wallart?
Yes, I can offer a 3 month, interest free payment plan if you want to buy something that’s just slightly out of your budget. Full payment would need to be made before receiving any of the goods.
Can you come to my home to do the session?
I prefer not to offer home newborn sessions unless it’s for a valid reason. This is because a newborn session uses a lot of props, outfits and blankets that are hard to pack and travel with. There is also my lighting equipment to bear in mind. For this reason, I have 2 very comfy chairs, a fridge full of soft drinks, a coffee machine and a selection of teas for you to help yourself to. I also have snacks to keep you going. I’ve made it a home from home setting so that you’re nice and comfortable when you visit.
Cake smash
When is the best time to book for?
As the images can take upto 4 weeks to edit, I recommend booking a month before your child’s first birthday, so that you can have the images in time.
What sets do you have?
I have quite a wide range of backgrounds that I can use. I quite often ask the parents for an idea of colours or a theme before heading off to make something especially for them.
Can I design my own set?
If you have a specific idea in mind, you are more than welcome to ask for it and I will do my best to bring it to life. I have made quite a few bespoke cake smash backgrounds that have looked amazing.
Do I bring the outfit and the cake?
I supply the outfits and the cake, unless you really want to do it yourself. I use Glamorose Cakes for all of my birthday cakes.
Please do let me know if your child has any allergies or intolerances to cake so that I can arrange something with my supplier.
Do we have to do the bath at the end?
Nope. If your little one has an aversion to baths (mine did at that age), then we can do something else, such as bubbles or confetti to finish.
Do you offer payment plans if we decide to buy extra images or Wallart?
Yes, I can offer a 3 month, interest free payment plan if you want to buy something that’s just slightly out of your budget. Full payment would need to be made before receiving any of the goods.

Family
Where do the shoots take place when outside?
I have quite a few favourite spots that I love to use for my family sessions. These are all based in or around Swindon. If you have a specific place in kind though, let me know and we can look to sorting a date.
What if it rains?
Unfortunately, we live in a very wet country. My camera and kit don’t do well in rain, so in the case of bad weather, I will contact you to arrange another date for your shoot.
Can we bring the dog?
Yes, please do, they are family too!
What if my children don’t want to stand for photos?
I am very child-led and will work around them. If they don’t want to stand and pose, then that’s fine, I’ll get them playing and running around before trying again.

Yes, I can offer a 3 month, interest free payment plan if you want to buy something that’s just slightly out of your budget. Full payment would need to be made before receiving any of the goods.

Mini sessions
I can’t find anything on your website...when do you do these?
I absolutely adore these sessions, but I only offer a few a year. For this reason, you won’t find them on my website until the next one has been announced.
If you want to be the first to know and bag yourself a deal on my earlybird sales, then add yourself to my secret sales list (scroll to the bottom, you’ll find it in the footer)
What types of sessions do you do?
Here are just a few to expect from me:
- Bluebells
- Wildflowers
- Pumpkin picking
- Christmas

Dog
Where do the shoots take place when outside?
I have quite a few favourite spots that I love to use for my dog sessions. These are all based in or around Swindon. If you have a specific place in kind though, let me know and we can look to sorting a date.
What if my dog can’t be off lead?
Not only have I been trained by the UK’s top dog photographer, Andy Biggar, but I am also a whizz at photoshop. If your dog can’t be off the lead, no problem!
What if my dog won’t stay still?
If your dog won’t sit still, I’ve got you. It’s all about patience and catching the moment as it happens. If your dog doesn’t sit still, then why would you want a false image up on your walls? Catching them as they are is always the best way, you’ll see :)
Can the whole family get into a photo?
Yes, there’s nothing I love more than getting you all involved.
Do I need to bring anything?
Please bring along any favourite treats or toys that will help to get your dogs attention.
